Saving Randell Cottage: Video Screening and Website Launch

The establishment of the Randell Cottage as a writers’ residence is a story of generosity, diligent research and multiple visits to multiple garage sales, demolition yards and second-hand stores.

The story is being retold in a new seven-minute video Saving Randell Cottage to be launched at the National Library on 30 April. Produced by Godwit Films and funded by Creative New Zealand, the video comprises interviews with two of the cottage’s donors, Beverley Randell and Susan Price.

Join members of the Randell Cottage Writers Trust, the Friends of Randell Cottage and the Friends of the Turnbull for a special screening of Saving Randell Cottage at the National Library on Friday, 30 April at 5:30 for 6:00 pm.

Trustee Christine Hurley will talk about the making of the video and its place on the new Randell Cottage website, along with other new written and video content, including a video tour of the cottage, which will also be shown.

Cottage donor Beverley Randell will speak about the family’s history and connection with the Cottage. And current CNZ RCWT Writing Fellow Lynn Davidson will be on hand to outline her goals for the residency.

Light refreshments will be served. Koha would be appreciated.
